"my song of ascent" by Heather Parker Jones

I forget but not about you

the same instinct to protect & defend that was still is

no one can erase what’s inherent

I want to take up arms & run to your rescue

fight to life for you

when the hungry bear wakes up and ambles from her winter cave

everyone is at risk

I’m no match, but I know who is

the Creator

the Defender

the Grace Giver

instead of advancing, I’m armoring up

I’ve devoured too many innocents myself by now to take any other stance

I’m waiting

receiving

releasing

trusting is the narrow way

I like to be rescued

you must want it too

only I can’t do it without making a mess

I’m learning my own lessons thru you in the world

How To Rescue is to let myself be rescued

trusting for confirmation, affirmation,

vindication

trusting that hearts will find our way
